And here I am again, Wednesday lunchtime, juggling indigestion inducing speed eating with trying to document the happy little bits of the week. No no, save your tears. It is what it is. And what it is, is CRAZY busy. I’ll probably stop harping on about that sometime soon, I suspect it might just be my life.
Let’s do the wonderful!
Coq au Vin
Pray silence for the comedy named food* please, god bless you France. I embarked on a 2-day labour of love to feed some friends on Friday night and it came out really well even if I do say so. I used this Bezza recipe and modified it only with a bit of chicken stock to loosen the sauce before serving on Friday. It went majestically with some roasted cauli and parmesan potatoes.
Oh and FYI, I whiled away the Thursday night marinating time consolidating my personal pensions. No, you’re the best adult.
*I made it for reasons other than just to be able to say Mary Berry’s Coq obvs, I’m not 8 years old.
Saturday Morning Yoga
Starting the weekend with a stretch and a bend and a semi-face-plant-whilst-attempting-crow-pose was pretty awesome. After a long and busy week, it’s important to try to find a bit of time to calibrate. I nabbed a whole hour out from the world: it was my little act of self love for the day. It’s infinitely less important to try to run to the class in case you were wondering, that’s a stupid idea that will end up in a hot, sweaty mess of a down dog.
Sunday Morning Beach Date
The Sunday morning beach date is always high up the list of best bits and this weeks was stormy and freezing and beautiful. We finished it off with ginormous coffees and pastries, how
all most good dates should end.
The fringe is the most radical thing to happen to my hair since I let an evil bloke called ‘Dove’ give me a mullet within three weeks of arriving at uni. THAT was a good time.
On Saturday I took the plunge and got fringed. I’ll almost certainly regret it the second I get caught in the rain and end up looking all kinds of demented but right now I sort of a little bit love it. There’s no picture in which I don’t want to punch myself in the face so you’ll just have to take my word for it.
All the sunrises
My Instawhatsit is almost entirely made up of sunrise porn right now. I feel forever fortunate that those fur faces get me up and out of the door early enough to see the sunrise most days. I’m stocking up for that four month period during which I am constantly rained on and muddied up to the butt cheeks. Winter with spaniels is HARD.
Ever on the hunt for something new to procrastinate with, I stumbled across Gilmore Girls. So long life. I don’t know how I missed it first time round, it’s sweet and funny and weird and I’m addicted. It’s not perfect, Lorelai can be a bit annoying and that town is full of more crack pots than even I can handle but it is still pretty wonderful.
Pumpkin Spiced Baileys
Ok, so you know my hatred of pumpkin spiced lattes is deep rooted – they’re just too sweet and syrupy and ick. BUT my love of Baileys is stronger than your nan’s and I had to believe they could do something better with the whole pumpkin spiced thing.
Ding ding ding ding!
It tastes like all the best bits of autumn – gently spiced, a little sweet, warming and cinamonny and so very moreish – but without the sickly sweetness. Oh and it’s ACTUAL Baileys. I’ve been putting it in everything. Every. Single. Thing. It goes best with hot chocolate though, smothered in whipped cream. It does not go so great with fajitas.
Find a bottle, drink it up, thank me later. It’s about the most cosy, hygge, delicious thing you’ll put in your face this year.
