Wonderful Wednesday Sixty

Wonderful Wednesday SixtyShall we have a little chat about that weekend in all its short wearing, cornetto eating, ‘oof it’s too hot-ing’, garden sitting glory? Wasn’t it just the bomb diggity? I’ve used that a lot lately, I’m single handedly going to bring back into circulation. I’m still working hard on mainstreaming ‘bodacious’ too. Vive la revolution.

So, that weekend. It was pretty amazing wasn’t it? There’s something infinitely magical about those first genuinely warm days of the year when you can chuck off the jumper and bask like a happy, gin quaffing lizard. Those first days make me feel like the most ridiculously motivated version of myself which means that this week has been full of the bright and shiny. It was hard to pull out the lovely bits, mostly because I’ve spent most every day with a maniacal grin on my face, must be all that vitamin D.

Shall we?

The whole weekend. It was just all ridiculously beautiful.

Sunbathing Bees. Did you know that bees sunbathe*? My grandma told me whilst we were supping tea together in the sunshine in her garden watching one do it on a most lovely start to Saturday morning. Tea, sunshine, facts, gardening tips, grandparents – winning.

*I’ve googled, seems legit.

Commuting. I’ve had to do the looonng drive between offices a couple of times this week which normally wouldn’t fill my heart with the most joy BUT the sun has shone and I’ve got a cracking audiobook on the go and those eight hours I’ve spent in the car have been some of the loveliest, most relaxing hours of the week. Including the two hours I drove last night to get home which were heinous in their lateness and length but which did mean I got to drive through the most beautiful sunset into the clearest of nights. I spent most of that journey constellation spotting.  That might be the most airy fairy thing I’ve ever admitted to but it was bloody lovely.

Wonderful Wednesday SixtySnap happy. Working on upping my photography game I’ve been snapping away like a demon this week. Still far more luck than judgement, that feeling when you capture something beautiful, no matter how arbitrary, is a joy. Like the lonely dandelion who is not perfect but it’s not too shabby.

Inspiration It might have been the weather, it may have been the fantastic training session I went to on Thursday (brain not gym!) or it might just be a flash in the pan but whatever the reason, I’ve been feeling all kinds of inspired this week. Inspired about life and careers and blogs and all kinds. Having a bit of brain space to be able to make the most of that inspiration has been lovely, I spent a good few hours in the garden in the sunshine filling page after page with ideas.

King of the swingers. Husband won at golf. I was proud. So very proud. Proud enough to go to the prize giving…in the actual golf club.

The new Friday. I’ve taken that extra day off which means today is my Friday – could not be less sorry about it. Five whole days of bouncing around Devon with my tiny wolfpack and a step-child or two and a gin festival.

Gin. Festival. People.

Gin. A festival of the stuff. GIN.

And that’ll do for this week. Tell me your highlights.

SallyKate, Helen, JoCatEmma, Sam, Laura, LynseyKerriPeta Sarah, ElJasmin, Debbie, Katie  and Mimmi are all also full of the cheer. >> If you’re in the gang and I’ve missed you off, please please let me know! There are so many now I lose track!

I’m glad you had a bomb diggity weekend too! I was rocking the shorts and sunglasses! Have a good week! X

  • Omg I so want to go to a gin festival! The weekend was totally glorious, bring on summer! x

My highlight was definitely the picnic by the river when I felt like something straight out of a Jane Austen novel! So so excited for a long weekend although I wish there was a Gin Festival happening in Belfast. Or do I? Could be dangerous. Enjoy your long break!

  • I know how you feel about commuting, I used to do an hour cycle to go to work (before we moved in our new place that is closer to the office). At the beginning I hated it but now I sort of miss it, it was a great way to pay attention to nature and details I would have never done otherwise!

  • I am SO behind bodacious. The wonderful weather is definitely getting me all excitable and enthusiastic about everything!

  • That dandelion picture is absolutely gorgeous! My weekend consisted of a haircut, beers with my dad, losing the Grand National, catching the last rays in the beer garden, a lunch out for my father-in-law’s birthday on Sunday which was a bit disappointing and, had we believed the weather forecast, we should’ve just had a barbie instead. This weekend promises long walks to distant pubs and trying out the pizza oven in a pub in the neighbouring village. Hoping for clement weather for everyone.

Gin festival?! I hope you’ll be sharing more about that next Wednesday! Hope you’re enjoying your extra long weekend – now that my out of office is also on, I can share in that joy! C x

  • Sixty wonderful Wednesdays?! Are you kidding?! Where does time go… Actually don’t answer that. I don’t want to know.

One day I’m going to replicate these nice little doggy photos of yours. At the moment, if I was to attempt it, no doubt Moxster would have knocked over the mug, chew the corner of my book, climbed on top of me, licked my feet, all whilst pulling my hair at the same time.

I really miss having a commute in the morning. Or even the fake commute accompanying Kris to work. I might have to start that again, specially now the weather is getting so nice. And who knows, I might even have the chance to bring the doggy along too, now that she seems to be riding in the bike trailer.

Well, after I don’t have a broken foot. I’m a little bitter about it. Can you tell…

  • Which audiobook are you listening to now? I’m so intrigued! xx

  • Bomb-diggity is now in my vocabulary, thank you Michelle 😉

The thought of sunbathing bees makes me VERY warm and fuzzy on the inside. Told my boyf, doesn’t seem to believe me 😛

Hope you had a lovely four-day weekend in the sunshine! xx
